Morning Look: That Was a Good Weekend

Here’s a 100 percent true story: this weekend, I returned home from a week’s vacation in Miami Beach, leaving Florida on a day that was 80 degrees and perfectly sunny, with clouds banished to some less fortunate place, and returning to find that this frigid wasteland had overtaken our town.
The night I returned, I had a vivid dream. Really and truly. In my dream, Todd Yoder, Chris Cooley, Gilbert Arenas (wearing a purple velour suit and cravat), Terps beat writer Steve Yanda and an unidentified fifth man were having a spirited five-person game of racquetball. The media had swarmed to the event, and many media members were, for some unknown reason, standing on long ladders while they watched. After the game, there were interviews, although Gilbert declined most.
But here’s the disturbing part: I wasn’t interested. I just wasn’t. When you can’t get interested in a dreamscape racquetball game involving two of D.C.’s most bloggable stars, one of whom is dressed for a show at the Kennedy Center, you know something’s amiss.
And here’s another true fact: On Nov. 1, the two teams whose success has driven this blog were 6-2 (Redskins) and 0-0 (Wizards). Traffic had never been better. Since then, the Redskins are 1-4 (better only than the Lions, 49ers and Rams) and the Wizards are 3-15 (better only than the Oklahoma City Weathermen).
Football and basketball are the two sports that absolutely drive our Web traffic, and for more than a month, our humble home has been easily the most wretched combined NBA/NFL city.
So how was your weekend? And does anyone know any Miami Beach cheese shops that might be hiring?
